West Middle School's NASA Project Takes Flight

The TechRise team from West Middle School is posing on the left, and on the right there is a photo of two of the team members working with some electronics. On the bottom right is a photo of the project - a balloon that will be lifted up into the atmosphere to test their hypothesis.

This summer, the LISA Academy West Middle School TechRise Team showed off their their creativity and problem-solving with their high-altitude balloon project.

We are so proud of our brilliant NASA TechRise team from LISA Academy West Middle School! As part of the TechRise Student Challenge, our scholars designed an experiment to investigate the effectiveness of sunscreen at high altitudes.

Their custom-built payload measured UV radiation and temperature levels to see how well sunscreen holds up when there is less atmospheric protection. Their project flew about 13 miles above Earth!

Check out their project featured by NASA!

Thank you Jaguars for continuing to take STEM learning to the next level!
