LISA Academy Charter School Contract is renewed for 13 years by the State Board of Education

The State Board of Education approved LISA Academy’s 13 year renewal application on January 12, 2017. This is the first time a charter school in Arkansas received that longest term which is amazing. LISA Academy’s huge success was recognized again in the meeting. Here are some of the highlights from the yesterday’s meeting; “LISA Academy has one of the best track records academically and financially among the state's charter schools. LISA has had a lot of success, and so they felt they were in a position to ask for 13 year" Alexandra Boyd, Director of Public Charter Schools Office, Arkansas Department of Education “The longer renewal period is an opportunity to reward a charter school for great behavior” Susan Chambers, State Board Member, Arkansas Department of Education We are so proud of our administration, staff, students, and parents for making LISA Academy one of the best schools in the state of Arkansas. We truly believe that education is a partnership between the school, students, parents/guardians, and community. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of our education and provide the best for the students of LISA Academy. We appreciate your continuous support of LISA Academy. Congratulations to LISA Academy Family… TOGETHER WE ARE MIGHTY!

Attention to the 6th grade Applicant

LISA Academy is proud of the educational opportunities we provide to our Kindergarten through 12th grade students. We are excited to provide this to both the North Little Rock as well as Little Rock areas. As of the 2016-2017 school year, we have our new LISA Chenal Elementary in West Little Rock that serves K-6 students. This school feeds into our LISA West Middle School serving 7th-8th grades and finally into LISA Academy West High School for our 9th-12th grade students. Our district schools work closely together to provide a nice smooth transition for students between campuses. The LISA Academy Chenal campus provides 6th grade students with their own wing within the school. With this being the only grade that is changing classes for eight periods a day, the students are able to learn skills with their locker, time management and our team works closely to help students organize themselves to be successful in middle school. This gives our students a strong foundation for their move into the 7th grade at LISA West Middle School. We find that students that develop a firm foundation with these skills are better prepared for continued success. Students wishing to continue enrollment for the next grade level, even if it is in a different building, simply need to complete and submit the Re-enrollment form by January 31st. They are not required to go through the application and lottery process. We believe there is great strength in working closely with our families and continuing that school-family relationship as your students grow and learn. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to play such a critical role in the lives of your children

3nd Annual Arkansas STEM Festival

Arkansas STEM Festival is initiated by LISA Academy with the cooperation of USA Science Festival and UALR. A great variety of exploration stations will provide hands-on activities that bring opportunity for engagement and exchange between children, teens, families, and local STEM professionals. Students and parents are invited to a festival of ACTIVITIES and EXHIBITS designed to EXPLORE, CREATE, MAKE, and LEARN more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. .

This year, our theme is “Hello, World!”, which symbolizes a successfully executed line of code that can be transformed into something that could potentially benefit a large number of people. In addition, the festival is a great way for Arkansas’ young computer scientists and programmers to literally say hello to the world through their work. The double meaning of “Hello, World!” is ultimately what made it the best choice to be the theme of the 3rd Annual Arkansas STEM Festival. The event will be held at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on March 3 in the Donaghey Student Center.
